Sometimes someone else’s story can give us back our hope.

AFTER ONLY A YEAR

Jorge Osorio

Martha, my gratitude to you is immense. In the 17 years I have spent trying every kind of therapy, you are the most direct and the most effective professional I have worked with. The care and the professionalism you bring to your work produce astonishing results, and the most incredible part is that it has taken less than a year. Thank you for teaching me to listen to my body, to work deeply on things I thought were behind me, and to settle the vagus nerve. Many sessions feel 'magical', and my life now is far lighter than it was before I met you. Thank you, truly.

POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS

María Luisa Flores

For years I lived with panic attacks and anxiety. Since childhood I had trouble concentrating and paying attention. In 2010 I was in an accident involving fire, and from then on my symptoms got worse. Living became very hard and I fell into a deep depression. Even though I looked for professional help, any improvement was only temporary. Being around people turned into an ordeal; I felt panic, I lost control of my emotions, and that left me badly shaken. At work it was mostly dread, and choosing the right partner seemed impossible when I did not know what was safe for me.

In 2022 I met Martha. After assessing me she explained that what I was living with was not only emotional but physiological: my nervous system had been altered by the many traumas I had been through. I cried right then, understanding that I had finally found an answer. We began the therapy and little by little I got my life back. The work with Martha was completely unlike anything I had done before. Every session was a step forward.

Today I can finally say I feel whole, calm and steady. I read again, I meditate, I enjoy being with other people. I am in a healthy relationship built on love and respect, and I feel life is only beginning, full of paths and new experiences to discover, with my heart full of gratitude for this second chance.

SUICIDE

María

Early this year I started to notice something was wrong. There was a deep sadness in me that had been building over time. 'I remember crying so much one day that it surprised me to have so many tears.' The months that followed became a routine of constant sadness. I felt disconnected, as if I merely existed without really living. Everything got worse when my cat became ill and I had to make the painful decision to put her to sleep. 'My body, my mind and my heart could take no more.' I had already been struggling with suicidal thoughts, and losing her made them stronger.

My sister suggested I try the SSP protocol. I contacted Martha and, with no expectations, I agreed. 'I had nothing to lose.' From the first session I noticed small changes. 'On the second day I got up without effort, got ready and went out. It was astonishing.'

The grief for my cat is still there, but something inside me began to settle. 'I could breathe without it hurting so much.' The SSP was not a magic cure, but it was the first step back to feeling alive.

GRIEF

Lucía

Good morning, everyone. I want to share something very special with you. In January, a fortnight after my daughter was born, my father died unexpectedly. It was a very hard time; even with therapy, even with people around me, I still felt a deep sadness and that sense of not being able to carry on.

Two months ago I had the chance to do a therapy that specialises in grief, and it was truly incredible. It was only two sessions of around two hours each, and the change was enormous. I was able to reconnect with my father from a place of peace and love.

Of course I still miss him, but I no longer feel that I cannot go on. 💛

I really do recommend this therapy — it was a healing and beautiful experience. 🌷

STAGE FRIGHT

Susana

My experience with Martha has been more than fantastic in helping me speak with more confidence. Since I was small I had 'stage fright', which showed up as a series of blocks that stopped me relating to other people and getting on professionally. The fear once left me without a voice; I found it hard to look people in the eye, as though I were ashamed of something I did not understand.

Sometimes I would even say to myself: 'If I could be who I really am, without these thoughts that paralyse me, I think my life would be so much easier.' I envied the people who could.

One day I happened to see a mention of Martha online. I did not think twice, I got in touch, and I knew straight away I had been right. Without noticing it I was able to bring out everything I had hidden inside, met with extraordinary warmth from her; I understood myself and I healed. It was teamwork. As time has passed I catch myself doing, without thinking, things I would not have done at all before. I feel more sure of myself, I enjoy life more — the music, my children, the people I love. And the best part is that I can now speak in public and look people in the eye.

Thank you

SUICIDE

My experience of the therapy has been good, and a relief. I arrived confused and defeated, not knowing what I was doing and unsure whether therapy would work at all. It was a process; sometimes I felt anxious and let down, realising that five minutes in, my life had not been magically fixed. It was not easy — I had to feel emotions I had been avoiding and did not want to feel again. My parents found Martha after I tried to take my own life.

I found out that my ex-wife had been unfaithful, and she wanted to end the relationship even though we had a small child. I fell into a hole. Nothing consoled me, and out of desperation and a mind that had clouded over, the only thing I could think of was ending it all.

At the end of each session, looking back a little, I could see I was moving forward. Working on the pain and the betrayal — 'processing it', as Martha puts it — healed the pain and the sense of failure. It helped me see other horizons; it still hurt, but it no longer floored me. Without trying, I found myself thinking about things in different ways and finding the answers I had been looking for, and most important of all I ACCEPTED what was, I accepted myself, and the calm came back.

I share my story so that anyone thinking of taking their own life, or who has tried, and who sees themselves in what happened to me, knows that it is possible, that peace does exist and that the calm does come. That out there in the world are more people like you and me, and that we are here to help each other when we need it.

MY SON IS GAY

Camila

My son came out of the closet so that I could go into it. When he said to me, 'Mum, I am in love with a boy at university, he is my boyfriend and he is the person I love. I am gay, I am not interested in girls,' I fell into a state of tremendous distress. I told him that although I did not understand it, I loved him very much and that would have to be enough — and asked him to give me time to take in what had cost him so much to say.

I cried thinking my son would have a hard life, that he would be discriminated against; the spectre of AIDS came into my mind, that he would have no children and we would have no grandchildren from him. For a long time I suffered and wept inconsolably.

I began sessions with Martha, some in person and some online. A few months later I was ready to come out of the closet myself with the rest of the family. Today, five years on, we are getting ready for his wedding.

My son is still an extraordinary person; he has not changed. I did six months of therapy, and through it I traded ignorance for understanding and healed prejudices I did not need, because my goal was to accept him, support him and love him more than ever — and above all to understand that he is as normal as anybody else.
